Twenty-year-old Kenyon College junior Emily Murray, a popular religious studies major, went missing late one night on November 3, 2000 after quitting her waitressing job at the Pirates' Cove restaurant and bar. A month later on December 9, 2000, her body was found in rural Vinton County, inside a trailer owned by Gregory McKnight, age 25, who worked in the kitchen at the Pirates' Cove.
